LACC Preschool Program

At LACC, teaching your child is something that we take very seriously . For this reason, you will see professional lesson plans posted on each classroom that address the academic needs of the children in our classes. Our classes address auditory, kinesthetic, visual, advanced and struggling learners by implementing differentiated learning strategies.

Children at Loving Arms Children's Center receive a solid Christian education married with academic excellence in our Preschool program-for no additional tuition charges.

LACC is one of the only Christian centers in the metro area. Our Christian education is planned by our Director of Christian Education, Pastor and a lead teacher who has a colloquy in Religion. We have Jesus time daily, which includes Bible accounts, songs and art projects. Our pastor conducts a weekly chapel chat with our three and four-year-old 's.

Two-year-old Program

The two-year-old's work on shapes, colors , identifying pictures and feel ings. We also introduce a formal circle time that includes stories, songs and talking about how to handle their emotions appropriately. They spend time developing both small and large motor skills, with the centers that are set-up throughout their room . Art projects and the sensory table are utilized, as well.

Three-year-old Program

Three-year-old's begin work on letter recognition, calendar, word walls , shapes, colors, science skills, patterns, sequences, as well as, social skills that involve sharing, "talking out" our problems, and working on preliminary problem-solving skills. Three-year -old's are taught independence by having their meals "family style", so that children pour their own milk and put their own food on their plate. Each child has a daily "job" to help instill a sense of pride and independence.

Four-year-old Program

Four-year-old's continue to practice many of the skills started in the three's. Learning appropriate social skills is a high priority, as the children prepare for Kindergarten. In addition, four-year-o ld's learn letter sounds & blends, beginning word recognition and some of our students graduate from our program learning how to read. We use a writing curriculum that practices letter formation as children's fine motor skills develop. They also memorize 26 Scripture verses that correlate with the 26 letters of the alphabet. Students learn to count by ones, twos, fives and tens, as well as, learn to recognize number families. We also incorporate science and exploration . Assessments are done on each student 's academic achievement and teacher's partner with parents to help students prepare for kindergarten. Our curriculum in this room is based upon the Kindergarten Readiness criteria used in Johnston, Des Moines and Ankeny Public Schools.
Loving Arms Children’s Center and their partnership with Messiah Lutheran Church has been a second home to my sons for the past 5 years. I love that as they are developing and being prepared for school they are more importantly learning about Jesus’ love for them. His teachings and daily life lessons are incorporated into their days at LACC by dedicated staff and leadership. I can’t say enough how pleased we have been with our LACC experience and how thankful we are that we found this center.
